Scarlett

Book Review by: logomachicus

Original Author: Alexandra Ripley
This abstract was translated from Scarlett
The best seller "Gone with the winds" of Margaret Mitchell is no more to be introduced. Read and commended by thousands of
readers worldwide, this marvellous novel left in suspense the life of the couple Scarlett O'Hara /Richard Buttler. It is with great enthusiasm that I embark on the final part written by Ripley, Scarlett. The life of the heroin after war is described by an expert hand. Nevertheless the lost of the original style that gives the novel its reality, that style appears too modern for the era. That defect is quickly forgotten along the novel reading because of the thrilling atmosphere prevailing throughout the novel: will Scarlett succeed in having back the man of her life? Through marvellous settings that make the South of America or Ireland, we can observe the turning into of a woman of a young lady without the latter loosing her charm and her determination, the key to the novel. The rough young girl will discover a new world till now forbidden to her, Irish mode, little people without maids, cooks, who are living without caring about the others look, without much ado about nothing, marvellous thing for a young girl that is unconventional. Such a discovery will lead her to the country of her father, Ireland where she will try to make her way between civil war and famine. The couple life of
the two main characters appears much compromised that an ocean is parting them by and still we can meet Rhett Buttler, on the moody Irish roads
