The lost boy

Book Review by: keza

Original Author: Dave Pelzer
This is the second book which Dave pelzer has written about his life, a sequal to the best seller A child called it. The
book briefly looks back on some of the isues in the first book (A child called it). The story then continues on to when he was rescued by his teachers.
For a long time Dave had to report to the nurses' office everyday when he arrived at school, because of his appearance. All the school children disliked him and had done so for some years, they picked on him physically, mentally and emotionally. After all the years of abuse from his mother and years of cleaning he couldn't feel his fingers, couldn't walk properly and had a stutter. He had to learn to walk and talk properly again. There was one person inparticular that stood out to him, she was his social worker. she spent weeks comforting Dave and preparing him for the upcoming trial.
The trial had come and gone, he was placed in several foster homes and had been in a bit of trouble in between. Throughout moving from home to home he had seen his father only a few times. Dave was not allowed any contact wih his biological mother or brothers unless his mother arranged something. Dave wanted, needed to know why he was treated the way he was, why his mother was the way she was. He never gave up on stating that one day he was going to make something of himself make his mother proud of him, and that he was worthy of his mothers love. In the end Dave is placed in a foster home that feels like home, and also stops getting into trouble, finds a job and turns into a fine young man. Also presented in the book are Daves perspectives on foster care, epilogue and we get to find out a little bit about dave himself.
