UK Authors is a must site for any would be writer. It is a
community of writers from all walks of life who post their
work for to
be read and reviewed by anyone.
You can post and read pretty much any kind of
writing, plus a lively
group of forums for almost any subject including general chat, computer
problems and critiques.
A part of UKA is UKApress, a publishing company that hopes to give aspiring writers the chance to get into print.
Anyone who has an interest in writing or likes to read good amateur prose and poetry should check it out.
To join and be able to post and comment there is an annual fee, the two
people who run the site do it for the love of it and need help in
keeping it going.
Although it is nominally a UK site, there are
members from all over the
world who contribute their work, making this a rich source of
information and community.
I have been a member for about four years, during that time I have
received a great deal of help and support from all the other
members, my writing has come on in leaps and bounds. My
paid writing is mostly IT related, this pays well but is not as
satisfying as my fiction, UK Authors is a great outlet for this hobby
writing.
Another thing that UKA does is to publish regular anthologies of work
from the site, under the name 'Voices From the Web'
articles that appear in these are nominated and voted for by the
membership, 'Voices from the Web' can be bought from UKAuthors or
Amazon and contain such a diverse range of writing that they are truly
unique books
