bodies is a medical fiction book, written by Jed mercurio who is qualified doctor. he is also the writer of cardiac arrest the t.v programme.
bodies has also been adapted for television. it is one of the most exciting i have read and will certainly read again.
it follows a young doctors career from his first day as a doctor to being a senior house officer.the narrative features his struggle to maintain his integrity whilst he sees medical neglect and mistakes made all around him. whistleblowers are unable to keep their careers intact and this causes a great dilemma for him. his patients are always introduced according to their medical condition, yet the impression of him is that he cares deeply for his patients
the book is very graphic in both medical detail and in the sexual liaisons he has.there are also some swear words. because these are an integral part of the story i found they did not cause offence.
there is a glossary of terms which would help anyone not familiar with medical terminology.
it is a novel which is hard to put down and you hate to get to the end, the writing is incredible, all the more so when one considers it is mercurio's first novel
