It is said that when one writes an autobiography they mean to write about their life, in South Africa, It is not so. Lives of many students are the same. My first year at University was suppose to be a super/great experience yet it was never so. Why does every child have to suffer because of their disadvantaged
financial background? I’m at the University of Zululand,
studying towards a B.A Degree in Planning and Development (year level Two). Why do I have to write to an overseas sponsor to receive funding, why do I have to disclose personal information to receive funding? I’m not complaining, just stating the life in a day of a typical BLACK student. I’m studying, I’m studying as hard as I can because I want to be employed by qualification and not by affirmative action. I’ve excelled academically, so why should I have to suffer, struggle and get frustrated about fees with a mind as great as the one I posses.
To who ever reads this,
I wish to tell you that this is a life of a Black South African Student, Grant or no Grant,
Could you take your time to write back to me? Seeing that we S.African’s wish to live in the life of an American Student. If you can not, Could you at least ask an American Students Who grew up totally differently from me to write a letter to me? This will not do well for me emotionally, but it will do well morally and it will give me hope to carry on studying with all my financial problems.
