Thought Leaders

Book Review by: Arushi

Original Author: Shrinivas Pandit
Thought Leaders is a book of its kind. The book profiles 22 managers-cum-entrepreneurs who have achieved lasting success
in their chosen vocation. The book profiles people from fields as diverse as Dairy Science(Dr. Varghese Kurien), Scientific Research (Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar), Perfumery (Kelkars and Deepak Kanegaonkar), Banking and Finance(Sartaj Singh, Deepak Parekh), sweets (Chitale Bandhu), bioenzymes(Kiran Mazumdar), IT (Narayan Murthy) and Pharmaceuticals(Dhananjay Bakhle) to name a few.
The book does what we would ideally do on reading such a book. It comes up with a common set of characteristics in these people that have made them reach the top. In fact, the author has gone one step further. He has validated his own experiences against these common characteristics that he refers to as source code of exceptional managers.
The book succeeds in increasing our spectrum of awareness. Reading each profile inspires one to aim higher. It inspires one to overlook the obstacles and keep on the path of attaining one's goals. The book emphasizes the need of preparation, commitment, excellence, passion, having a mentor to achieve one’s goals.
The book makes informative as well as entertaining reading. We need to be rereading these kind of books at regular intervals to keep up our spirits. Else it is very easy to get bogged down in the minor irritants of day-to-day life.
