The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Book Review by: mischievouspixie

Original Author: Douglas Adams
Imagine eating a talking cow, bred to enjoy death while watching the universe explode with a rock star that’s spending a
year dead for tax reasons. This may sound impossible but it’s not, just highly highly improbable and what is improbability when you have a space ship with a heart of gold whose computer ceases to function when asked to make a cup of tea.
Welcome to The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, even bigger and more fantastic sequel to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Ape descendant Arthur Dent is still on the run along with the rest of the crew and a few new faces. These include a lift that is afraid of going up, a man born because of an accident with a time machine and a contraceptive, and a plane full of commuters stranded for millennia because of a lack of lemon soaked paper napkins.
So step into the total perspective vortex and discover that mankind was descended from a group of hairdressers and middle management.
Somewhere there should be answers to the questions left by the first book but unfortunately there was a major cock-up along the way. But don’t get too hung up on that. Just sit back and enjoy the spectacle, destruction, séances, primeval swamps and a planet with really good weather.
‘If you’ve done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliways, the restaurant at the end of the Universe?’
