I had been walking through the forest for several hours, when suddenly I heard something behind me. At the first moment,
I thought that there were only falling branches or forest birds, but after a few seconds, it repeated. This time it was noisier. I took a deep breath and slowly turned my head away to look what was going on behind me. I saw a huge dirty bag and I noticed something moving and shrieking horribly
inside it. I was a little nervous and afraid but I untied the bag. There were four tiny about two weeks’ old kitties inside. They were dilapidated: emaciated, dirty, and scared to death. I understood that for somebody these helpless kitties posed a problem and
decided to get rid of him or her. I do not understand only one thing: why in this way. It was not human and cruel.
These cats were lucky in their tragedy, because if I did not help them, they would probably suffocate or die of starvation after a few hours. In this situation everybody, who has conscience and human impulses would do the same. I put all the four cats into my basket, which was intended for forest mushrooms. I came back to my car and went to veterinary surgeon. He took care of abandoned kitties and they recovered in five days. I found for them new, friendly, and sensitive owners.
It happened a month ago, but it is still in my mind. I cannot forget about it and because of it, I decided to write to your magazine and appeal to people for not abandoning animals: they also have their feelings.
