„In the desert and
wilderness”, written by Henryk Sienkiewicz in 1912, is a beautiful adventure novel, which gains win recognition
among people in all ages. It includes not only a plot of characters and their experiences or feelings but also amazing description of nature and unusual places in the world.
One day, Arabic Subordinates their father kidnap the main characters (Stas and Nell). After that, they set off on a journey tramping the huge areas of the desert. There are some unexpected
moments and children have an occasion to take a flight. Moreover, despite living in a big baobab they have to survive in extreme conditions. During escape, the author shows readers unusualness and originality of the nature.
The book is very interesting in the way it shows events happening in the desert. The author pays great attention to details, such as particular descriptions of the nature or keeping the reader with agog. There are some sad moments, especially when little Nell does not managed with separation with her father. The scenery created by the author is often breathtaking. There are not dull moments. Moreover, reading “In the desert and
wilderness”, we feel like being in common with characters and it makes us interested in it.
Overall, this is a real masterpiece. I would recommend the book for everyone, not only for children but also for adults.
