Jonathan Livingston Seagull

Book Review   by:lune0226     Original Author: Richard Bach

Jonathan Livingston Seagull depicts the challenges, discouragement, hope, goals etc, which Jonathan Livingston Seagull faces during his life.

It is a must-read inspirational book for the modern generation, who''s passion and desire to learn and achieve no longer exists.

While flying is just another means of finding food for most seagulls, for Jonathan Livingston Seagull, flying is life itself.

He practices only to fly more higher, more freely and more gracefully. and with practice, Jonathan Livingston Seagull successfully masters numerous techniques which other seagulls can''t even imagine.

Somehow, the book may seem to contain a very simple content, and one may tend to overlook.
But even so, this book is one of the ''must read''s, and is one of the constant best-sellers.
One may wonder why.

It''s probably because it opens our eyes to a lot of things in different perspectives.
Especially the passion for learning of Jonathan Livingston Seagull, touches the heart of the readers, and it inspires them to make changes in their lives.

When Jonathan landed after his practice, he was casted out from the society for violating the dignity and tradition of the Gull Family..
I didn''t understand why Jonathan still loved flying even after becoming an outcast at first.
But then eventually, i began to think highly of him when I realised that he did not give up because he had passion for learning. Passion which took everything he had in exchange for his achievements.

At the end, Jonathan Livingston Seagull entrusts everything to Fletcher Lynd Seagull, his very first student, and transfers himself to a space of time.
I was extremely moved at this ending of the book.
Jonathan vanishes after giving a few instructions to Fletcher Lynd Seagull.
Though this part only lasts for one or two pages, it made me realise a lot more than the others. It betrays the selflessness of Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
He was ready to give up everything for his passion, something which has been long forgotten in our society.
