Daiches presents approaches to literary criticism using Sociology,
Psychology, Phylosophy, and Cultural Studies. This book is important
for those beginners of literary criticism. After reading this
book a literary critic can analyze a work in various ways of
studies. Using Sociological approach, he can appreciate novel, drama,
poetry or other kinds of works in sociological point of view.
While using psychological approach, a critic may psychologically
criticize a literary work in its relation with the author, readers, and
psychological aspects of the characters within the work. Applying
cultural studies, a critic may reveal cultural phenomena described in a
literary work. Phylosophically, a critic can also uncover a work that
is laiden philosophical values.
