PATRIOTISM

Book Review by: kokey

Original Author: kokey
You never realized the beauty of something until you let go of it for sometime.  Oftentimes, we get so engrossed on
studying other cultures and visiting their country, experiencing their different sorts of practices and watching their cultural shows, but missing out our very own.  One funny experience when I was in Bangkok is meeting my lovely Thai tour-guide.  He frequents the Philippines for business reasons, and proudly announced to his Filipino guests how he enjoyed his visit at Malacanang Palace.  Only one among the party of four was able to visit our very own Presidential Palace.
So now that I'm working off-shore, my friend and I try to experience the very best of our culture.  The "Old Manila walks " in Chinatown, road trip from Antipolo to Paete, Quezon, traversing the long and winding roads of Angono, Binangonan, Tikling, Jala-Jala, then up to Quezon.  With a quick stop to one of the oldest church in the country, St. Jerome's Parish Church in Morong, Rizal, built in 19th century, then had a gastronomic satisfaction at Exotic Restaurant in Paete and eating the best "ginataang suso" (snails cooked in coconut milk).  My next project is checking out a performance of the world-renowned group Philippine Madrigal Singers.
