"Bunga
Makna" is my first publication of a collection of 70 poems written in
the years 1984~1988, most of which
appeared in the local Malay
newspapers & magazines during the period."Bunga Makna"
touches on a number of universal themes such as love, life &
sacrifice. A recurrent theme is the human condition & challenges
face by man in modern day society.. explores with the right mix of
social commentary & narration of personal
experiences. Inclination
to religion & understanding of the deeper insights of religious
practice is also manifested in the writing.. especially towards the
later years 1987~1988.The language is generally simple &
easy to comprehend although emotive words are sometimes used to convey
strong feelings & assert certain ideas & thoughts. The use of
contrast & choice of imagery, symbols of
modernisation such as
technology, expressways & machines are aptly used to illustrate the
