This is my comment on the article “Hands-On” Parenting Promotes
School Success:I take my hat off to
parents who go the extra mile in maintaining
physical proximity with their
children. Activities like getting
involved in school events; helping children get assignments done; or a
simple lending of an ear establish an emotional and physical bond
between parents and children which strengthens their closeness and
intimacy. Psychologists reveal that
love and attention in the family
breed healthy emotional development of a child. Institutions like
schools and other organizations are only there to reinforce the parents
in the performance of their responsibilities. Parental love, acceptance
and responsiveness still play a major role in molding
future citizens.
The degree of intervention and guidance needed from parents may vary
during a life span but it certainly does not cease at any given time.
Parenting is a lifetime career. And, conception is only the start of a
nurturing and nourishing
relationship.
