This book which is set in the time of

Meg is the eldest daughter, a proper young lady and is a governess for two children,She has a very sweet disposition though she is often upset with their present condition.
Jo, is a fiesty young girl, determined to break all the rules and stop being what she considers to be the worst thing a lady!! She has a spitfire Temper but quick to cool down and face things no matter how worse they are. With a tempermental artistic streak she brings a lot of spice to this story and you are always looking forward to what she is going to get into next.Jo also has to go and tend to their fussy old Aunt March!!
Beth is the caretaker of the family.A sweet and shy girl she is always ready to listen to peoples problems and solve them in her own sweet way.She is the happiest when she is playing the piano

With all the Chaos happening in this household, just next to their house lives Old Mr.Lawerence and Laurie his grandson. Laurie is a slightly moody boy without any companionship and often lonely. But when jo and he meet well... the amount of mischief they get into, and he soon becomes a part of their household.
Through this entire story these four girls arestruggling with their own personal problems and trying to find a place for themselves to fit in.Of course a lot of sisterly fights, but underneath it all they all have hearts of gold.
When tragedy strike their family verything is immediately put into perspective for these girls and each of them stand together to make things work.
