In the years to follow the uprising, the Poulation Police a new organization of the Communist
goverment inforsiesis a law that only two children are allowed to a
house hold. Any third child is ilegal and will be taken away to jail or killed on the spot. At this time America is in another depression. Food is short and after this law came into effict life changed forever for a boy called Luke.
Luke Garner with his family lived as any farmers would. Working out in the feilds, growing crops, raising cattle and trying to sell their food to the goverment. To the out side world they were normal, but no family is normal and they had a secret. They broke the Poulation Polices law. Their third child Luke is a live and well. Though he is not really happy. Since his sixth birthday when he finnaly got up the couarge to ask his mom why he had to hide he has lived in a state of turmoil. Not nowing if his life will ever change, if he will have to hide from people from the goverment for the rest of his life.

That is untill the woods near his farm house are token away by the government. after the trees are token away and the town houses are built for goverment workers Luke is not even aloud to go near the windows. But boys will be boys. When his family is gone he peaks through the windows and watch the new familys. One miraculas morning he spots a girl in the window of the nearest house. Realizing he just climpsed another third child he knows he has to meet her. And in their meeting Jen changes Lukes life for the better. Read the book you will not be let down.
