Aunt March''s old house overrun with boys!! What next,in the March household?
This is the third book in the series of Little Women written by Louisa May Alcott.
Another classic and a must read especially if you have read "Little Women" & "Good Wives"

So far, in the March Household,Meg is happily married to John and has two children Demi & Daisy and baby,Amy is married to Laurie and has a beautiful daughter of her own who is popularly known in this book as the "princess"
Jo is married to Professor Bhaer and has two lovely sons of her own Rob and Teddy.
Beth has passed away but is still very much alive in everyones memories,Bless her soul.

In the last Book "Good Wives" we see that after Old Aunt March passed away she left an unexpected gift to Jo,Plumfield!! with its huge sprawling grounds and a lovely house.
Jo and the Professor come up with a plan to do What both love the best!!
Open a school for Boys, for the less fortunate as well as the children who are fortunate but just need a bit of understanding and kindness.

So starts the story of the "Little Men" in Plumfield.
The entire family is quite amused with jo''s brainwave but all of them are quite happy to chip in and help her out.T
he story starts with the entry of a new boy sent to Jo by Laurie - Nat.He is a small frail shy boy but give him a violin and you will see his genius!!
This story is told through the eyes of the boys.
Let me introduce you to some of the children,There is Tommy, who is bound to burn down the house someday!! he is always getting into trouble and if you have read the previous books it will remind you a bit of jo in her earlier days.
Demi - Meg''s son who is an intellectual and loves reading and discovering things.
Daisy - the soul girl in this household and loves mothering these boys when they need a kind word or just someone to listen.
Rob- Jo''s eldest and is trying hard to be one of the elder ones.
Teddy- Jo''s youngest son and the baby of the household,he will bring a smile to your face.

Frank & Emil - Professor Bhaer''s nephews, both have grown into fine young men and Frank helps out in the teaching whereas Emil loves the sea and cant wait to finish his schooling.
Jack,Ned,Stuffy,Bill and many many more are present in this school, all different characters.see as how all these young boys turn into fine men.

Then there is Dan - a sulky and dangerous boy,Will Jo and Professor be able to get through to him? Will he help himself?
How about Nat? Does he manage to fit in? make friends?Learn lessons?
Who can forget young Nan?? Nan is the girl wo comes to this school. She ia ready to prove that she is better than the boys and goes all out in shocking Daisy who is a proper lady and of course challenging the boys to things you wouldnt even think off.

Join this school and see how the boys learn their lessons wth the Professor, and more importantly learn the basic lessons of life, to love, trust, keep friendships,Honesty and much, much more.To survive in the outside harsh world.
If you want a caring word someone to talk to,there is always the Professor and of course Jo,the mother of all these children.
You will laugh at their antics, cry at their sorrows and downfall, learn valuable lessons with them and of course enjoy yourselves thoroughly.

Look at the world again through the eyes of a child,it will remind you of your childhood and some of the games we used to play.It makes me wonder as to when did we stop using our imagination and why? coz its such fun!!.

Travel with Jo and the Professor, with their struggles with these boys as their greatest desire is not that they become rich or famous but just that the boys become good human beings. The entire household is there helping out in some way or the other you will laugh with Laurie as he becomes one of the boys, whenever he visits.
Maybe some of our educators should take a look at this book and the way things are taught in this wonderful school. It is a proper Boys Paradise, but everything is not play.they learn a lot of valuable lessons. As the professor plods on and teaches them in his wonderful way,he also teaches them that if you need anything that he and Jo are always there for them.no matter good or bad, they will listen and punishments will be given but for these boys the fact that the Professor and Jo are upset itself is punishment enough.

Relook at the meaning of family!! for me this was the meaning of family - a true family not through blood but just with love and understanding.
Full of pranks, falls, lots of trouble what with Tommy and Nan!! but a heart warming story, which will make you laugh and cry.
