"The Woods", the new Harlan Coban book, is a thriller which tells the
story of the DA Mark Copland, whose
past is chasing him. As any well developed character in the genre, Copland has to fight in many fields, and it is
clear from the beginning that only if he''ll muster all of his wit and bravery, can he win this multi-front battle. While his working on a big case representing a
young afro-american rape victim, he returns to the night in the summer camp, where four of his friends were murders, of whom one was his sister, whose body disappeared. Maybe someone survived? The two worlds collide when the ruthless parents of the accused in the trial try to find details on Copland past, in order to "ruin him" by finding family secrets that even Copland is not aware of.
The plot presents in it a
vast gallery of characters, including: Classic cops, local sheriff, tought female investigator, past love interest, young painfully sexy Indian lady, old K.G.B veterens and a strange hippie. As the story progresses, many clues are interweaved into a vast web of mysteries. The text is
light and clear. This novel is supposed to be a light entertainment and it fulfuills what you expect from it. nontheless, when you finish reading it nothing will stay. After all it''s just a "flight book".
