Mother Night

Book Review by: Tiffy

Original Author: Kurt Vonnegut
Írjon kivonatot itt. Kurt Vonnegut: Mother night  It is a bit hard writing with enough humble understanding about
the story of Howard W. Cambell Jr., the Amarican spy having brought up in Germany, being a famous Nazi propagandist and a great pal of SS leaders. About a man being under pressure of the two greatest empire and about a man, who wanted to serve only one empire. The secret land, inhibited by only two. Him and Helga, his beautiful wife. The darkest black humor, per The Guardian. It really is. A book about life, a book about love, a book about loss in wartime and after. Maybe black humor, maybe not really black (as the whole message is against considering something black or white) and maybe not humor at all. Maybe just facts, naked like soldiers in a spa without uniforms. Story of a man who loved a woman. A man, who left America as a kid and grew up in Berlin. His fate being his talent in writing made him famous, his dramas were admired, just like her actress wife of beauty. The story is a Second World War story, with Nazi politics, threat and suppression, vicious games and camps and the contradictory life of a spy who survives everything, the loss of his wife and the loss of all his hopes. Difficulties of the veteran survivors, the twisted situation of a spy etc... Things we have already read at several books. There is something more though.
WHAT MAKES THIS BOOK EXCEPTIONAL, LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE TO READ?
Between lines, you should quest for wisdom and honesty. This book taught me to trust and survive. No matter what you have been through, you are simply able to build up your trust, again and again. There is no such terror and horror man capable of thinking, which man is not capable of doing. Though you are able to trust again in your fellow man. You can be betrayed by your own government, your own father in law, your family, the left and the right wing guys.  Feeling shitty is normal, stop pretending this noble, veteran pride! The whole society feels the same after a war like this. Recovery may take years. Still you became wiser and you will survive. It is not so easy to die.So little is enough (in spite of all appearances) for man to live. We were created to survive any mess into which we got ourselves in. This book shows that it can be done. And also shows how hard it is.
