Seventeen Poisoned Englishmen

Book Review by: SM THOMPSON

Original Author: Gabriel Garcia Marquez
I noted lately that the only people reading a lot are either retired teachers like myself or students ... and I was discussing
the reason why people do not read as much as once
happened in this country.  Several answers came to mind.  One is the popularity of the Internet and Websites - which - provide enough information for the reader that clutching a copy of your favourite author on a crowded bus is a tradition of the past.
This book is small and well presented ...  I read it in an afternoon and it is more like
an essay than a novel, but then I suppose the fact that its so accessible would
gain it popularity for the modern reader.
The writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez is described as an writer of genius and his novel .One Hundred Yeas of Solitude/ was published by Penguin in 1972 .... which describes experience as frail and bewitching, in a world where the differences between reality and a dream state
are "hopelessly blurred"
Quite poetic I am sure and that would be the strength of this book ... Excellent reading from the author Gabriel Garcia Marquez ... every book tells a story ... keep on reading books ...
