the village

Book Review by: kashe

Original Author: kefilwe molefe
Pachanga a small secluded village surrounded by mountains in the middle of the forest,
where no one has ever
been,
where there is no civilization,
where time doesnt matter,
where the locals know that they are the only beings  in the little world of their own
because no one has ever been beyond the mountains,
a village where people still practise a primitive way of living,
tilling of land and would not yield anything,
a village ruled by a fetish priest,
who plays God,
who knows much of witchcraft and wizardry,
who brain washed the villagers into believing that there is no life beyond pachanga,
who arranges marriages for them,
who decides their fate,
who doesnt allow them an sense of ownership, because everything is his
who settles cases,
to whom sacrifices are made,
who has plenty of wives and concubines,
who defloweres virgins before they are handed over to their husbands and
who is not easily appeased
anyone who spoke ill of him just disappeared
a village where only the fetish priest lives in luxioury.
behind the mountains is a city a few  kilometres away no one has ever been there because no one cares.
