Shepherd of The Hills

Book Review by: Mountaingirl2U

Original Author: Harold Bell Wright
This is a work of fiction set in the foothills of the beautiful Ozark mountains.   It is a story of a man looking
for his son.  A love story triangle between a beautiful young woman raised by her dangerous but loving father.   Of the young man she was promised to gone to college and of the neighboring families son who loves her.   Of a young mystical child that is not right in the head but at home in the woods with flora and fauna.  And of a criminal who is out to harm the two families and hurt the girls father and of a weak fiancee that does not stand up and protect the woman he is afianceed to.     Lastly of the shepherd and who it is revealed he really is and his relationship to all the other charcters of the story.    Written first in 1907 and reprinted in 1977.   This book has it all, mystery, romance, western, murder.   I first read this book in 1965 and could not put it down.   I have since obtained and kept my own rare copy in my personal library and have re-read it seveal times.    Published by Gosset and Dunlap
