The Da Vinci Code

Book Review by: ticoncha

Original Authors: Brown; Dan
Escreva o seu resumo aqui. Not long ago there was a book published that for some
strange reason is in the best sellers
lists of a lot of countries. We
are talking about "The Da Vinci Code," which content, based on a very
simple story line, suggests that in some of the pieces of the genius
Leonardo Da Vinci there are hidden keys that would explain certain
enigmatic aspects of our history. Obviously targeted to a common
audience, this book advocates the existence of s secret society that
descends to the sacred origins of the Temple of Jerusalem and that
supposedly has inspired the formation of the Knights Templar, which
mission is to safeguard the biggest secret of all times: The Holy
Grail; the genealogy of Christ from the Arcadians to the Merovingian
Dynasty, whose last king is supposedly Dagobert the Second. This
"esoteric" topic widely explored in the last decades, joins together
with Rennes-Le-Chateau´s Mythology because that is where Dagobert The
Second entered into Holy matrimony with the Visigoth Princess Giselle
de Razés in the VII century, which allowed the myth of the possible
continuity of the Merovingian offspring considering the premature
assassination of Dagobert The Second. The motive by which this supposed
archaic Order has taken possession of the Myth of Rennes, is more or
less clear due to the fact that, the Order openly expresses that it is
guardian and in possession of the secret of the Holy Grail.
Appropriation, manipulation and corruption are key words of the
"Priory" which dates no earlier than 1956. I wonder why the author of
this piece has defended such mistaken ideas and has made main character
of his narrative the myth manipulation which is the ?Priory?, when
there are current and enlightening studies in that direction, like
investigator Paul Smith?s work, that, with his extraordinary attention
and scientific zeal, contributes with the dissipation of ignorance in
which thousands of people voluntarily hide themselves every day. Such
misunderstanding does not give me less excuses to examine his choice of
the Opus Dei as the opponent, it is his idiomatic tendencies and
complete lack of criteria. On the other hand, I would like to catch the
attention of the authority of Power and not to the Entities themselves.
Rennes-le-Chateau still generates ignorance, lies, hysteria and
paranoia in a wider audience of readers that extend beyond the borders
of Europe. The majority of readers of the Rennes mystery live in Great
Britain, the United States and Brazil. Its number of readers continues
growing no matter the wide publishing of denials and serious historical
studies (mostly in France) from the beginning of the eighties. The
audience has always been, and becomes more and more, subtle to this
type of historic mystery, hazy, with rumors of a hidden treasure, codes
and secret conspiracies. This was the author?s first attitude towards
the mystery: The total and complete amazement in an explosive mixture
of ingenuity and belief!!! This way the reader will excuse the
unavoidable introduction, some tedious, that will make him understand
better what follows. The Eastern world (that of Christian descent), has
lived for several centuries a terrible Sense crisis defending nearly
dogmatic principals, concepts like ?Liberalism?, ?Rationalism? and none
the least ?Democracy?. Liberalism has a result, it is inevitable, it is
the dead point of the unstructured individualism. Rationalism, or the
blinded belief of reasons infinitive power, it is in itself a blind
concept that blinds those who believe in it. Democracy? Democracy will
never cease to be the enigma of existence?s formation of hierarchies.
The organization of reality in a hierarchy of beings that seek their
base in a ?Principal? cannot stop being incompatible with Democracy.
The three of them are incompatible with tradition. The lack of
Principal in the structuring of societies, that has been signed since
the endof the middle ages, has lead us to the sad reality of a
population mined with a Sense crisis and with a spiritual and cultural
illiteracy. This is no novelty, but serves, as we will see, to
organizations like the Priory of Sion? But more than the Priory or
other sects and subversive movements, others win with this crisis: big
enterprises and banking (by stimulating consumption and the
incorporation of the omnipotent institution of the credit), all of them
are corrupt and criminals. All of them sail in the great river of
materialism which volume is increased by weapon and narcotic traffic.
Population has no other choice but to ?float? in this non-promising
ocean bound river. To be honest, I don?t understand the popularity of
this book considering it is no more than a crude photocopy of the
?Sacred Enigma? published by Leigh, Lincoln and Baigent. I do not
recommend it.
