Iam an Indian and im too proud to be so.The book Freedom at midnight is no doubt a
good read but it makes you upset at the same time because a foreigner can never ever write good about our India or
indians.This book basically starts with the rich and cultural heritage of
India,our royales and their royality again very badly projected.Later the stories move to the political scenario of india during the British
Raj and further it moves to the gory stories of the raj and their atrocities and how india got rid of their cruel clutches and became an independent and free nation.The Freedom at midnight really bowed the Britons and stars shined and glittered our country ! but alas! its a shame that a writer like dominique wanted to potray india just as a land of snake charmers ,elephant mahouts and poor farmers.overall its a must read book for us indians to know where we stand???
