About the writer:[BR]Clive Staples Lewis, known as C. S. Lewis, was born in Ireland in 1898 and died in 1963. When he was eight years old, Lewis lost his mother, and started to create stories in an imaginative kingdom of talking animals, very similar to Narnia.
He spent most of his childhood in boarding schools, in which he suffered, most of the time. As a grown man, he lived in England.[BR]He studied theology (the study of religion) and ancient English literature and eventually became a researcher in the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. In that time he started began writing the series of books for which he became famous: The chronicles of Narnia. In the series Lewis combined imaginary and mythological creatures, brave adventures and many human values. The series became classic and was translated to many languages. Adaptations of the series were done in theater, television and even on the big screen. Lewis also wrote a series of three Science Fiction books, but he will always be remembered for his famous series of Narnia.
