The tapestry of Fionavar Volume 1: the tree of the summer

Book Review by: queeny

Original Author: GUY GABRIEL KAY
This abstract was translated from La tapisserie de Fionavar Tome 1 : l'arbre de l'été
All starts with five students, Kim, Dave, Jennifer, Paul and Kevin, alive on Earth, a weak copy of a world of magic, ignored
the land ones: the world of Fionavar. Projected in this other dimension thanks to the magus Loren Mantel d' Argent, they are found very quickly implied in the first escarmouches of the conflict between the forces of the light and those of darkness. A war to which them existence of simple human had not prepared them... Consequently, each one of them will have to find its place within the great tapestry which composes the world, in order to fight Rakoth Maugrim the Devastator, who has just released himself after thousand years from imprisonment... Doesn't an enemy already overcome and very very mechant, of the elves, the dwarves, the men, a ring.... that recall you anything? Of course that if will answer me. And due... Guy Gabriel Kay of some... Tolkien is enthusiastic admirateur! One thus finds, much élements which made the success of the Lord of the Rings. Nevertheless, the work of Gabriel Kay does not stop there! Adding heroic legend, humour, combat, and drama, they litteralement plunge us in a world enchantor, being connected with the Earth of the Medium, but which has an attraction moreover. And if it were this characteristic which made its difference and its charm?
