What if your
brother is involved in a conspiracy with the government which led to his demise to death row and you''re the only one who can save him? That''s the position of Michael Scofield, one of the lead protagonists of the critically acclaimed suspense/action/mystery/drama series "
Prison Break". Don''t let the simplistic title draw you away. It has a groundbreaking storyline full of twists and turns, surprises, and memorable characters that would keep you at the edge of your seat every episode that will leave you asking for more!
I am certainly not exaggerating as this series really consumed my nights of sleep! At first I thought this was just a typical prison series. It turned out that it involved as far as the President of the United States. I was dead wrong. Speaking of dead, this series involves a
lot of
people getting killed behind the back, whether it be the convicts, the feds, the agents, or some innocent passerby.
I couldn''t come up with a complete plot analysis since the series is still currently completing its third
season. There are 22 episodes in season one and another 22 episodes in season two. There are a lot of characters, a lot of events, and certainly a lot of plot twists. If I were to indicate them all I would be like writing a novel! I would just like to make a short excerpt of season one and two.
In the first season, the location of focus was inside Fox River Penitentiary, in Chicago, Illinois. This was where Lincoln Burrows, the man accused of killing Vice President Caroline Reynold''s brother, was being held and scheduled to die in the electric chair. Unknown to others, his brother, Michael Scofield was a structural engineer who was part of the team who designed the blueprints of Fox River. Scofield was technically a genius, devising a bold and complex plan to set his brother free, as well as literally tatooing a map of the blueprint of Fox River and some other encrypted and coded messages to his body. His plan revolved around several key persons and other numerous events and items. You really have to admire this person''s strategy. There were countless details in the series where he put the pieces of the plan together for the grand finale- the escape, to happen. Along the way, there were certain people and elements who would either be good news or bad news for him. But eventually he succeeded in escaping with his brother, along with six other convicts, out of Fox River.
In the
second season, the Fox River Eight, as they were called, were declared the most wanted men in America. The second season''s theme was more of like hunting down fugitives in a game of cat and mouse. A lot of people got killed, including some of the escapees and some of the key characters. Another focus of the escapees during the first half of the season was getting the buried stash of the famous D.B. Cooper a.k.a. Charles Westmoreland who was coincidentally detained in Fox River during their stay. The 5 million dollars worth of cold cash was buried in an isolated town in Utah. The race is on as the escapees and including two former COs from Fox River fight their way with their fists and wits to get the cash by themselves. The rest of the second season heavily involves the feds and the agents from "The Company", a group of corporate big shots who have insanely huge influence to even control the US government and the presidency. They are dedicated to do whatever it takes to take down Lincoln Burrows, Michael Scofield and the rest, to keep the national conspiracy away from the public eye.
I heavily recommend that you watch the complete series of Prison Break. It has the perfect mix of everything, from action to suspense to drama. It even has life lessons and it emphasizes the importance of having and being with your loving family. So grab a copy and have fun watching!
