I will leave WB Yeats and his
poetry to your imagination or you can talk it out in class or take a walk around the corner to the University Library. In fact I am more concerned with establishing when WB Yeats was born and when he
died and that I discovered from the London Poetry Society ... and my five year membership with that prestigious Society in the UK.
WB Yeats was born in 1865 and died in 1939 .... so he was alive and well on walking the earth during the First
World I and Irish Uprising and Russian Revolution and then he died just around the time World War ll started .... what an extraordinary patch of history to sit astride.
WB Yeat and Lady Gregory founded the Abbey Theatre in this illustrious period and I have had the good fortune to have been commissioned by The Abbey Theatre to write a
play which lives on in my imagination since it was purely love of writing that drew me to it rather than the best selling circles of the world or a word from the wise .. now I have entered the European Competitions with my European Play I will surely be able to say that during my lifetime I encompassed some extraordinary world history in keeping with great poets like WB Yeats. Yeats won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923 .... an extraodinary event ... outstanding poet ...... keep on reading poetry ...
