The main protagonist in the first novel by Marissa Pessl is a socially awkward, brilliant, young female pubescent named Blue.
Her and her
father are in a constant state of flux as he is constantly migrating from one teaching position to another at various undistinguished universities in the United States. At their latest sojourn Blue encounters the Bluebloods, a clique of gifted students and their teacher, Hannah, who recruits Blue into their afterschool rendez-vous. As Blue is brought deeper into the fold, Hannah''s behavior becomes increasingly erratic and mysterious, and with the apparent accidental death of one of Hannah''s friends, Blue trys to unravel the msytery of Hannah and the Bluebloods and the role she and her father play in the unfolding imbroglio.
