parineeta literally means the maaried woman.it is a novel bysharatchandra,one of the great writers born in india.this book is one of his finest creations.it is a story set in kolkata.it is a story of a girl called lalita and a boy called shekhar.lalita and shekhar were neighbours.lalita lived with her uncle and shekhar with his parents.lalita was poor while shekhar was rich.lalita and shekhar were very close.nobody except lalita was allowed to tidy up shekhars room,whenever lalita needed any money she was free to take it from shekhars cupboard.everything was just fine before the wedding of one of lalitas close friends.the wedding day held a very shubh mahurat which means that the stars indicated a very good time.it was believed that just by exchanging garlands that day you would be considered married.unaware of this fact lalita garlanded shekhar and became the married woman.how they met,what difficulties they faced,forms the rest of the story.
parineeta has been made into a successful bollywood film.this novel is simply great.it is a must for every booklovers collection.this love story of lalita and shekhar is as good as the love story by erich segal,or even better.i have read it and i suggest you should too.
