Satprem’s The Revolt of the Earth is a marvelous work of great spiritual merit. It is based on the writings and philosophy
of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry, India. It is focused on the great revelation by Sri Aurobindo that man is not the ultimate objective of the process of evolution and therefore, man is a transitional being. Taking a cue from this revolutionary concept, i.e., ‘new evolution’, Satprem looks at the possibility of the
transformation of man into an absolutely new form. This process would lead to the emergence of the new species on this planet which would be altogether different from the previous homo sapiens. This phenomenon would be a result of conscious, consistent and revolutionary changes that the true seekers of Divinity would undergo both in the body and consciousness. The transformation of body implies mastery over the cell formation, mutation and reorganization of cells. The knowledge of the spirit world and the radical change in the realms of consciousness would result into the formation of a new being. Hence, the
spiritual transformation of mankind is an imminent possibility and the materialization of this marvelous idea would be a result of the great spiritual endeavour— the revolt of the earth. The discussion in the chapters, ‘The Revolt of the Earth’, ‘The Challenge’ and ‘The Body’s I know’ deals with the notion of the new evolution and new revolution and suggests alternatives to bring about the spiritual transition in man and his world
