Without any introduction I would like to draw your kind attention to numerous discourses, songs and sermons of Ma-Mahajnan, expressed in a state of 'Conscious Trance'. There are two things of great importance in her philosophy of life and they should be realized by every human being before one aims at the ultimate goal. One is as Ma-Mahajnan, the matchless genius, proclaims in very many ways—There's no rebirth. All that we have to do encompasses only one life. There is no scope for elevation or manipulation in the next birth. It obviously goes against the purport of the Vedas and other parallel philosophies where rebirth appears. The other is very conspicuous. "The origin of everything—living and non-living, is nothing but something vaporous." Mother's realization doesn't tally at all with Darwinism, which is now widely accepted. Ma-Mahajnan may be challenged in the light of her works—especially with 'Unraveling of the Mystery of the Universe', where 'universal solution offering tranquility' is the ultimate declaration. Now let me discuss the points related to Rebirth. There are lots of loose thoughts intervene when we believe in rebirth and follow some doctrines of religion we belong to. Being aided by unrealistic approaches we think about this and that, often irrelevant, in the light of Rebirth devoid of Power of reasoning. By steps it is to be realized where lay the magic, mystery and the error. During catechism once I came to know something of great apprehension. Apart from what the Mother said earlier about the existence of God, I put straight to her: "According to you whatever we see is bound exclusively by the bonds of laws. Things are either well-arranged or simply at sixes and sevens—everything is automatic. The question is if we do not accept someone as God, we become free from fear. And if there is no fear, things like errors and immoralities come trailing along.' Mother –There's a saying "None as deaf as those that will not hear." To accept God is a matter of personal choice. Now where does that person come from? Well, according to the 'power' derived. In the course of nature everything is bound by the bonds of laws. Whatever is ordained to happen happens. Well, this is what our talk is about. Whether it is ghost or god—it causes fear. And what fear is like, it hasn't been so far discovered. Every man is subject to fear and this fear has different forms. Fear is one if we judge taking all things into account. Then you see fear is dependent upon the personal factor. There is no such thing as God, or as ghosts. Prosad—Then it comes to people off from the clutches. No fright!—"There is rebirth. You see, what you do in this birth, if it is wrong, evil or sinful, you'll have to suffer for that in the next birth. Do you understand?"--'Do these words restrain people in any way?' Mother—Yes. The words aren't irrelevant.
Prosad—But just see, you've pulled down everything—"There is nothing, nothing anywhere." Won't this make people reckless? Mother—Well, if they get reckless, they'll get self-reliant, too.—"Whatever I do is done only in this birth. All the action and reaction which follow from that, I have to undergo in this birth. There's no such thing as Rebirth." Everybody will take to this one thing. Then men will understand one stream of truth. Prosad—Again Mother, are you to be blamed like this? As a result of your stating what the primordial truth is, the problems have been multiplied. Instead of doing good, you have brought about evil. Ma-Mahajnan—Speak, speak, rightly do you speak. Evil done instead of good. The words are very true. Again very false. irrelevant. Not false but irrelevant. It is good to cut down ’akhar’ tree (almost useless one) around a ditch. Once these are cut down, the ditch can be seen. Its hollow, too, can be seen. The water inside is bubbling. Once people see that, they'll come flocking. They'll fill it up with earth. That'll make some land available. They can run up huts on that bit of land. Some ditches already have occupied some lands. These should be reclaimed by filling them with earth. If nothing is done—no hut rose, some land will be lying fallow. It's much better for lands lying barren–still they shouldn't be allowed to get rubbish accumulated. What do you do behind the curtain? The drop curtain remains hanging. There runs a show. It's better to do without these things. Roll up the curtain. Let everybody see what you are doing. People will learn humility. Obedience will come. This is one side of the case. To state the other side, if the curtain is rolled up, they will come to acquire self-reliance and strength of mind. Now, what about the statement of Ma-Mahajnan as regards "Something vaporous is the origin of all living and non-living"? Darwin's Theory of Revolution may be the demonstration of scientific way of thinking. Somehow it leads us to a conclusion. Mother's way of thinking is completely different and we are supposed to go a long way. However, I leave it all aside, for the next paper or reading it in Seoul, South Korea, in the assembly of The XXII World Congress of Philosophy. < 893 words >
