Ellen and Victoria have written a handy, easy to read guide for parents and teachers of children with autism and autism
spectrum
disorders. The book covers a range of issues including how to deal with sensory defensivenes and how to help these children better communicate with others. I found useful the guidelines for dealing with
tantrums (and also preventing tantrums). The book is not an in depth explanation of autism- it is a collection of excellent strategies that have worked for thousands of children grappling with social, sensory, behavioral and self-care issues. It covers all ages of children. The book is very hands-on with simple, common sense approaches that will help anyone with an autistic child in their lives.
