Pedro Almodóvar, a visceral Cinema
An interview, that lasts a book, teaches us all the art of this talented director. P. Almodóvar is a creator
and we listen (or read) to him speaking with so much simplicity. He puts passion to each word that pronounces and for that reason everyone stays attracted to this book. This book was written in 1995 that is to say that crosses his filmography of Pepi, Luci, Bom and other girls of the pile until The flower of my secret although it speaks in a chapter of Tremulous Meat. In fact, it is very rare to compare the primitive idea of the script that exposes and the result in the film some years later. The book is divided in eleven chapters: one by each film that he made. The interview is very sincere and product of a great interest and professionalism on part of the French journalist. He knows very much about director work, perhaps sometimes he knows more than him. Very several subjects are approached: the television, assembly, writing (Almodóvar is also a scriptwriter), scenery, autobiographical elements, the actors and the actresses, the influences or his inspiration. Pedro Almodóvar is a conscious director about he does. He is very intelligent since each thing that puts in a film receives sense, although as the title indicates, the cinema lives on visceral way. It is a pretty book that does not plagiarize the films but gives us keys of their beauty and mainly gives us desire to return to see them. Well, I am going to put the video of Everything about my mother… Se you later.
