A geisha´s memories

Book Review   by:negra     Original Author: Arthur Golden
ª
This abstract was translated from Memorias de una geisha

The author, Arthur golden, depicts in this precious novel the misteries of the fascinating world of the Japanese geishas. Using an amusing and full of poetry language, he introduces us to the secrets of their traditions, the art of seduction trough make-up, the dances or the narrations. Their millenary traditions are reflected in the novel trough the experiences of the main character, the beautiful Sayuri, who, thanks to the beauty of her grey eyes, will become one of the most famous geishas in Kyoto. But till that time, the young girl will have to survive in a hostile world, where envies and betrayals reign, while she dreams about a man that she is not allowed to love.
