Stolen Child ( the end is the beginning...) What does it mean losing a life? The answer is simple: a beginning of another. A complete transformation of one''s self and resurrection as a completely different person - this is, in brief, the main subject of the book.
Stolen Child is a story of two creatures: a
fairy or as a book calls it "a changeling" and a
human being.
Changelings, mythical creatures
living in the darkness of the forest, preserve their existence exchanging their lives with human beings. Stealing children and taking their place they become a part of a human world, however, the voices of their past never remain entirely silent.
Humans, the children who have been stolen, have to come into terms with having lost their human family and being sentenced to a life of a completely different kind. A life in the forest, with their new changeling community, separated from the human world.
Every day brings new challenges and difficulties. Developing their special skills, learning their new role in a group''s hierarchy but most
importantly coming into terms with the life which has no end.
Living each other''s life,main characters : a
changeling Aniday and his former self Henry Day,are trying to put together the traces of the memories on their past which haunts them until their ways cross one another.
Stolen Child is an account of dealing with the new reality and the more and more distant past at the same time.
Their story is a contemplation of values such as one''s identity, friendship and love. But most importantly it dignifies the importance of forgiveness and understanding.
