I really enjoyed this book, he''s broken away from his comfort zone of purely
detective based novels, mostly featuring Detective
Harry Bosch. The detectives
novels are excellent and that''s what made me want to read this new one and I wasn''t disappointed.
However, the pace isn''t quite as fast as some of his earlier efforts such as The Poet and
Blood Work, but the twists are all there! The book is all about the attempted murder of a
hooker by a young, rich real estate worker. It''s hard to warm to the accused man as his arrogance is evident throughout but Connelly makes you really look at both sides of the story
in this case and you''re never sure who the actual victim was until the very last page.
It''s a great book, maybe not as good as his previous
detective books, but a welcome effort
from a well respected crime novelist. I look forward to more of the same.
