In 1967 Charlie York is an eleven year old living in Angel''s Rest, an idyllic town in Virginia.
His happy childhood
is ruined when he is a witness to his father''s death and consequently his
mother is on trial for murder. Somehow a Korean War veteran, Hollis Thrasher, is linked to the death and Charlie is determined to discover the truth of what happened during that fateful day.
I found it difficult to get my head round an
adult writing an adult''s book as an eleven
year old.
At times I felt like giving up as there didn''t seem to be a lot of depth to it but I am actually glad
I persevered to the end. To me the end was unexpected and I enjoyed reading the epilogue.
This is an easy book to take on holiday. No concentration needed!
