I''d heard of this book on the Richard & Judy bookclub (sad I know!) and they gave it a mixed review, but having looked at it several times when browsing the bookstore I
thought I''d give it a go.
It was very good, the story revolves around Megan Thompson (the daughter), Frank Thompson (her father) and Huck Berlin (the detective) who are dealing with the aftermath of the
murder of Diana Thompson, Abortionist.
I think how you take this book will depend very much on what your views of Diana are, did she deserve the way she was treated because of what she did, or was she trying her best to bring
up a somewhat wayward daughter and keep a marriage together? The amount of sympathy I
had for all the characters changed several times throughout the book, the author being able to play with how I felt about the situations they found themselves in.
The book, to some extent, keeps away from the moral aspects of
Abortion and concentrates more, in my opinion, on the relationships of a family affected by
work,
money,
children and
love.
I enjoyed it. In fact I read the last 200 pages in one evening! If you''ve read it please let me
know what you thought.
