The Walking Dead

Book Review by: communityfriend

Original Author: Gerald Seymour
A Saudi Arabian camel market, but for suicide bombers, not ships of the desert, leads to the selection by The Scorpion
of the volunteer who walks well.

Dickie Naylor, MI5 agent and a week from retirement, sits it out in a backwater department, whilst Cecil Darke, victim of the Spanish Civil War brings ostracism by his colleagues for David Banks, an armed protection officer.

Around the country the lives of innocents are drawn into events that will decide the fate of an English town.

Lee Donkin, drug addict, "Gorgeous George," self proclaimed mercenary and crippled
barstool bore, Julian the teacher-cum-jury-member, Avril Harris, impecunious nurse and not-so-proud owner of a lemon of a car, all play their parts in this incredibly taut and immensely readable thriller written so cleverly, so imaginatively, that it drives the plot forward at breathtaking pace. It''''s a book I read in two days but would have liked it to have lasted for weeks. If you enjoy thrillers, you''''ll love this. The Daily Telegraph describes Seymour as, "The finest thriller writer in the world today," and for once I have to agree with that paper.
