William Kane and Abel Rosnovski are
born on the same day in different parts of the world. Kane is born in a wealthy family
in Boston, receives the finest education and becomes a prominent banker. Abel, the illegitimate son of a Polish baron, is raised by peasants, escapes from prison during the Russian occupation, reaches America and works hard to successfully create a chain of hotels. Their paths eventually cross, but sadly, the two remarkable men become life-long enemies, trying to destroy each other at every opportunity.
Archer gives us the story of two endearing characters and their triumphs and struggles. It’s one of his best books, highly emotional and truly outstanding.
