I finished the book without connecting the title to the story. This notwithstanding, James Patterson does not disappoint his readers. The excitement increases in his novels on the Women’s
Murder Club, from 1st to Die to 2nd Chance and now this. It almost feels like this is the end of the Women’s Murder, what with the death of one of the members of the club and the love that Lindsay Boxer
finally found. The story opens with Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer in her usual Sunday run with Martha, her lovable and loyal companion, and Jill Bernhardt with her Lab, Otis. After they part ways, Lindsay witnesses the blowing up of a townhouse and saves a little boy from burning. The killer leaves a signature behind. It turns out that a well-known internet
mogul was targeted and a
radical group claims the bombing. Another brutal killing of a businessman involved in insurance scams had the authority puzzled. Presumably, it is the work of the same group who bombed the internet mogul. The police suspects a radical group targeting a G-8 summit. The members are sent in a tizzy when one of their own is murdered. Finally, Lindsay figures out that the connection with the three murders is personal and races to the G-8 meeting where the killer intends to inflict one final blow. The pace is intense and fast. Patterson is brave enough to kill off one of her major characters, making his readers wonder how the club will survive the loss. It whets the reader’s appetite for the next novels on the Women’s Murder Club.
