Robin Cook does it again. A skillfully well-written medical thriller that commands the readers attention as the author takes
us from one heart-throbbing detective clue to the inside workings of a malicious health care conspiracy. The story plunges us into an emotional upheaval as our heroine buries herself in the quest of finding the truth to a mysterious death of a perfectly healthy young man who underwent surgery at the superhospital nearby. As the story unfolds, an alarming amount of patients are dying from minor surgeries, seemingly from sudden heart attacks, where a minute before they were fine. Cook brings back our favorite forensics pathologists and couple: Laurie and Jack. As they struggle to uncover this string of suspected serial
killings, they are facing an even more challenging turning point in their
relationship. Laurie's desire to have a family and Jack's troubling past throws their relationship into turmoil. Will Laurie and Jack be able to overcome their own hesitations and misgivings and solve this murder case before Laurie becomes the next victim? Does Laurie's genetic marker for breast cancer play a key role in these serial killings? What does the new genetic screening for new health care patients have to do with these unnerving series of events? Cook pulls his readers through a winding road of utmost suspense and heart-griping times. A definite read for all those who love thrillers or forensics dramas. A 10 out of 10! I highly recommend this.
