The Crimson Warrior

Book Review by: Carcadonn

Original Author: Cathy Dannhauser
If you''''re a cat person - then this book will appeal to you!
This is a fast-paced, action filled book, with
quite a few bloodthirsty scenes - almost gory enough to rival Stephen King! You get so caught up with the characters, you fall in love with them and cry and laugh with them, at the end I found myself flipping back to the first page to read it all again... just so I wouldn''''t have to say goodbye to Mel, or Roseblood or Melvin, or any of the other diverse characters.
The story starts off with how the most evil race of Hounds came into being, and they were led by the most evil, the most vicious of them all: Queen Schkria. The first island Schkria decides to conquer is Cat Island, and this happens on a stormy night. It was a short but bloody fight, and though she''''d won there were three cats who escaped.
These three - Riptorn, Grabtail and Swiftpaw - knew that if they didn''''t warn all the other cat clans on their land, the whole of catdom would be wiped out within a few days. Their only hope was the gather at the Glade of Council and make a joined stand against these Hounds.
The book then follows Riptorn''''s journey, and how he takes the Northanger clan on a race across the island, closely pursued by the Hounds. The ending has a surprising little twist that will make you breathe a sigh of relief!
...
Of course I found myself rather liking the antagonist - Schkria. She''''s actually a very simple and straightforward personality:
if she doesn''''t like you = you''''re dead
if you bring her bad news = you''''re dead.
All in all a highly enjoyable read.
