Just as David Webb and Marie thought they would be living
in peace after all that had happened in his violent past, along comes a man who passes himself off as Charles Jason Bourne. This Bourne copy carries out a bloody assassination in distant Hong Kong, assisted by a Macao thug. One of the victims turns out to be a high-ranking official of the People’s Republic of China. Webb’s former controls at the CIA suspect a deadly conspiracy, and to prevent it, the
impostor Bourne must be taken. Now, who could best beat him in his own game than the original himself? Thus, the ghost of Operation Treadstone is revived, and Bourne has to be resurrected for the mission. How do they do it? Simple: create the same situation that made possible the birth of Delta One – Cain – who became Jason Bourne, tasked to track down and kill the
terrorist Carlos the Jackal. In this case, they kidnap Marie and impose as condition for his release the capture of the false Bourne.
Webb, not yet fully recovered, complies and proceeds to Hong Kong. Marie outsmarts her captors and escapes with the aid of a Canadian friend at the embassy. Using the skills he possessed as Bourne, Webb defeats the thug of the impostor and uses him to track down his target deep into China. Can Webb defeat the younger, stronger version of himself?
The Bourne Supremacy has a different story from the movie with the same title.
