After having a few rounds of the Women’s Murder
Club’s
favorite drink, Margarita, at their favorite hangout, Susie’s, on Lindsay’s night off, she is called by her former partner Warren Jacobi to pursue a lead on a recent gruesome
killing involving children. They arrive on the scene, and are quickly involved in a high-speed
car chase. When the car doors open after an accident, Lindsay is horrified to see two
teenagers inside. They try to help the kids, but it turns out that the teenagers have guns and start shooting at them. Lindsay shoots back, killing one and maiming another. The family of the teenagers files a civil lawsuit against her. While waiting for trial to begin, she retreats to a picturesque town where she promptly pokes her nose into a
serial murder with a striking similarity to one of her first cases in he rookie years. With the grudging go-ahead from the local chief of police, Lindsay uncovers a gruesome serial murderer, whose killing spree is coming
closer and closer together. Martha receives a commendation for helping Lindsay put away one of the serial murderers.
Although this book is one in the series on Women’s Murder Club, there is little activity by the club. The members just lost one of their own, and Lindsay is involved in a battle for her career. Nevertheless, she still manages to come out a winner.
