Air Force One

Book Review by: streamsong

Original Author: Edwin Corley
She was alive now. The juices pulsed through her - oil and jet fuel and
hydraulic fluids. Her muscles gathered
strength - four turbo fans
vibrated with enough power to move an ocean liner. Her eyes and ears were
alert - their radar scanning the area, their radio capturing the racing
electrons from the airways, their altimeters and barometric gauges
searching the sky and terrain.
What better way to start a seven year researched novel about the plane
that carries the most powerful man in the world - the Air Force One.
Edwin Corley fascinates and carries his readers along on an explosive
journey with this well researched blockbuster of a read that takes off
with a bang, and cruises ahead with all the politics of white house, betrayal
of an agreement between an Air Force One steward and an angry ex-air force
fighter pilot and even to the mundane of swiped monogramed martini glasses
and books of matches that can only be found aboard the Air Force One.
Air Force One, in a spectacular way, tells the story of a presidents
routine trip aboard a plane that is supposed to be the safest, most
luxurious, and most guarded of all. But all that is put to test when an
unexpected traitor strikes on board at 28000 feet and their radar shows
that they are being stalked by a world war 2 vintage fighter, armed with
two machine guns. When they were eventually orderd to maintain radio silence,
all aboard the Air Force One knew that their fantasy flight had turned into a nightmare
that will live with them for the rest of their lives.
With the structural and electrical damage by the machine gun barrage of
the world war 2 being flown by a man who has a score to settle and the
Air Force One in danger of an explosive decompression, a routine trip
has turned into a nightmare that stretched the nerves and endurance of
all aboard to their very limits. However, the skill and dedication of
her crew helped land the jet but then, it was to be her last flight.
Air Force One is a must read. Edwin Corley has really established himself as one
of the best writers on the adrenaline pumping side of novels.
