THE
ALCHEMIST –THE ALBUM OF SIGNS, MUSIC AND
DREAMS After reading Alchemist by Paulo Coelho I stretched my boundaries of
belief to the infinity. From dozens of books to be read; Coelho always holds an edge to be selected. This
story still follows me, sometimes swallows. I am sinking on it. It is a windy
novel. We can feel all versions of the air within it and its musical realities and existences. Still I can feel it, touch it smell it. It shares more than an important belief, that if you are that much keen to achieve something and keep concentrating on it, the whole world will back you. It is an ancient voice. It is the combination of medieval mysticism and atmosphere. we can always hear the deserts are singing although in this story. It mainly thinks about destiny. Coelho invites us to read our dreams and to follow it. We have to find our ‘personal myth’…. our missions, meanings, happiness, fulfillment, creation ….. Everything flows through Coelho’s pen. It starts to tell a story of a courageous boy, Santiago, who followed his dream. This novel is an album of signs and dreams. He explores and
discovers himself and searching for the hidden
treasure located somewhere near the pyramids of Egypt. His father advised him before leaving “travel the world until you see that our castle is the greatest and our women the most beautiful”. Santiago sees the greatness of the world. He meets such as alchemists and kings. At the end of the novel he discovers that “treasure lies where your heart belongs”. The treasure is journey itself. It may be physical or by soul how much wisdom one admired, that is the question to be asked and you are the answer. Coelho states “simple things are the most valuable and only the wise people appreciate them”. “When you really want something to happen, the whole universe conspires so that your wish comes true. This is the key belief in the novel. It is written before some years ago. But still not even the ink is dried.
