The play
Hamlet shows how betrayal dominates the then royal family of denmark. In the play hamlet was betrayed by his uncle
claudius, mother and that the two betrayed his father, the late
king hamlet. He therefore sees
revenge as the only way of getting
justice. However,he is not the one seeking justice as fortinbras,
laertes and pyrrhus, all seek justice. Laertes seeks to kill hamlet for killing his father polinus. Fortinbras, prevented from executing revenge on denmark however comes to take over the throne as it was left vacant. Hamlet staged a play that the trojan king was butchered beyound recognition by pyrrhus, who took revenge for the death of his father, achiles.
There was also the price paid for his negative ambition. Aware that hamlet has discovered his diabolic
acts, he plots with laertes to kill hamlet by deciveing him to drink a poisoned wine during his fight with laertes at the funeral of ophelia. Hamlet mother unknowing drinks it and dies. Feeled with rage, hamlet forces the king to drink the wine and dies afterwards.
It is widely said that women are mostly victims of socities''s conflict. This was the case with quen gertrude who was a victim of her husband''s diabolical acts as she was secuced, set against her son and claudiusdid not stop her from drinking the poisoined wine. Ophelia was also a victim of extreme devotion as she mourns the death of her fasther without knowing he was invoved in diabolical acts.
Finally, the murder of the late king by his brother, claudius, the rush by claudius to marry his brother''s wife, etc, manifest the prevalance of evil in nature. This evil threatens, pollutes, distrupts and causes the downfall of any system of government in our time.
