A gradual growing with a generous sprinkling of anecdotes and incidents concoct the ever loved David Copperfield. Good breeding and a secure home in early childhood is what might have sustained David from falling into bad circumstances, way too many part of  Early London afforded.

A beautiful and moving first person narrative touches ones heart. Little David lived in a dream world with his lovely mother and loving nurse Peggoty. Little did any of them realize what fate would have in store for them, when a brother sister couple called the Murdstones, so like their name made an entry into David’s mothers heart.

The main motive, to finally take ownership of The Rookery! David’s  home. The plot revolves around the transition of a young, innocent lad to a young successful lawyer.

David’s world oscillates around meeting a gamut of people, from the simple sea folk in Yarmouth to the sophisticated cream of London society, dashing Steerforth and his mother. The horrifying experience in Mr. Creackle’s boarding school leaves an indelible mark on little David’s mind. Charles Dickens portrays early London and child labour through David(his first taste of earning, initiated by Mr. Murdstone soon after David’s mothers death, in a bottle labeling factory) that the reader looks gets a very clear picture of London society and its evils.  But all along there are good people too on David’s side, His Peggoty, His Aunt Betsy, Mr. Dick, Mr. Micawber, Agnes and his lovely wife Dora. A tale with a happy ending, touching on the success of young Copperfield is a strong contrast to an Anna Karennina.

David Copperfield is a beautiful concoction of morality seen in a number of relationships to quote a few examples like Barkis and Peggoty, David and Dora, later Agnes and Mr. and Mrs. Micawber who stick to each other through thick and thin. Of forgiveness, as in David and his Aunt Betsy Trotwood, Ham who forgives Steerforth for eloping with his fiancé  Emily and who in the end gives up his life trying to save Steerforth from the rough sea, Mr. Peggoty searching for Emily to bring her back home and take her away to Australia so they could start life anew. Lastly, a new life for those who were honest and strived for it, for example, Mr. Micawber (who exposed Uriah Heep and saved Agnes and her Father from losing out on their fortune and Agnes on an unfortunate marriage) finally was a Magistrate in Australia. Life gives everyone a chance,  grab it when it comes along!
